Springs is a small town located on the East Rand of Gauteng Province. The town owes its origins to the discovery of coal and gold in the region. Today the collieries are closed and mining has been replaced by manufacturing and engineering. The town has a very good infrastructure with four hospitals close to the town centre, at least nine high schools and plenty of primary schools scattered throughout the suburbs. Shopping centres include Springs Gate, Palm Springs and The Avenues. The suburbs of Strubenvale, Geduld, Petersfield, Casseldale and Payneville are all just a short distance from the town's centre and from all amenities. The town's CBD has the world's largest collection of small scale art deco buildings.

The town offers a wide range of sporting amenities, with cricket grounds, the P.A.Brink Stadium, golf clubs and driving ranges, country clubs and rugby all represented. Whithin the towns boundaries you'll also find plenty of other recreational facilities such as parks and picnic grounds. Springs offers property investors a wide range of investment opportunities. The suburbs to the north of the town centre are mostly post 1920s houses, while those in Casseldene and Strubenvale tend to be newer properties. Strubenvale also has a number of town house, cluster home and retirement complexes. There are also some opportunities for industrial property in the Industrial suburb of New Era to the west of town.
