Eastern Pretoria

This is the region of Pretoria that lies immediately to the northeast of the central business district and of the Union Buildings. It is a region of older homes with a sprinkling of ambassadorial type mansions. The infrastructure in this area is excellent, being close to all of the city’s main hospitals, some of the country’s best schools, and within easy distance of some of Pretoria’s finest shopping malls. Sports enthusiasts are also well catered for, with Loftus Versfeld Rugby Stadium to the immediate south of the area, as well as Colbyn Golf Park, and a number of fitness centres and sports clubs. The National Zoological Gardens are located in the west of the region, and the National Botanical Gardens to the east.

Pretoria has become a colourful cosmopolitan city since independence, and has a plethora of interesting museums and other places of historic interest. This part of the city has excellent road links with Johannesburg and the rest of South Africa, with the N1 highway linking it to Zimbabwe in the north and Johannesburg, and all points south, and the N4 to all points east. The newly opened Gautrain provides a fast rail link with the Oliver Tambo International Airport and with Central Johannesburg. With its wide cross section of property and its proximity to the diplomatic and business areas of the city, this region of the city provides some excellent investment opportunities.
