Boksburg is one of South Africa's ten largest cities and is located on the East Rand to the east of Johannesburg and Germiston. It is a mixture of small older properties, mostly located in Boksburg North, and more modern homes, with a number of complexes containing town houses, cluster homes and retirement villages scattered throughout the suburbs and offering excellent investment opportunities. The city saw tremendous growth in the first half of the last century due to the extensive gold mining in the area. Boksburg is bordered in the north by the N12 Highway and in the south by the N17, between them offering good communication links with the rest of the country. There is also a fast highway link to the Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

Boksburg, with a history dating back to 1887, has an excellent infrastructure, with two hospitals close to the city centre and plenty of schools serving all suburbs. The city has one of the most modern shopping centres in the southern hemisphere, housing the East Rand Mall and all major stores. There are also large industrial areas in the city that are home to a wide variety of manufacturing and engineering companies. Golfing enthusiasts will find several golf courses, and there are sports facilities and gyms throughout the city. Several lakes and dams can be found here, one of which, Cinderella Dam, is home to the East Rand Yachting Club.
