Pretoria North

The extreme north of Pretoria is separated from the rest of the city by a koppie that is the eastern extension of the Magaliesberg mountains. The R513, which is called Zambesi Drive, runs along the northern foot of the koppie, and is bordered on either side by the suburbs of Montana, Doornpoort, Sinoville, Annlin and Magalieskruin, with the old suburb of Pretoria North a little further to the west. In the east the region is bound by the N1 highway that leads to Zimbabwe, to the north are agricultural holdings and Pretoria’s general aviation airport, Wonderboom. The infrastructure in this area is excellent. Zambesi Drive has a number of large shopping malls and centres including the Kolonade Shopping Centre and Montana Crossing. There are several high schools and primary schools that serve the area.

Medical facilities in the area are served by the Pretoria North Clinic. Golfers can make use of three driving ranges and a number of golf clubs. Other sporting facilities catered for include cricket and rugby clubs and gymnasiums. There is a big selection of property types to be found here. Pretoria North is one of the city’s older suburbs, whereas the other suburbs contain numerous town house and cluster home complexes. The Roodeplaat Dam and Nature Reserve is located just a few miles to the east of the area and offers sailing and other water sports.
